Collaboration tools

In Avendoo, there are various collaboration tools designed to support teamwork and interaction within the learning environment. They can be enabled in the Course activation wizard under the Parameters tab.

Tasks

Tasks can serve as homework for a specific course activation. This means they are always linked to the course activation and are activated there as well. You can specify whether only authors or also team leaders and the learners themselves can set a task to Finished. You can then create and edit the tasks in the Preview mode of the course activation. If you want your participants to be able to continue working on the learning unit only after completing the task, set a Task hurdle in the learning path of the Course wizard.

Community

The Community collaboration tool enables the Community for the relevant course activation (also: Course community). All registered participants of the course activation have access to the course community, i.e., they are automatically registered there as well. The course community can be accessed either via the opened course activation (tab at the top) or—if enabled—via the menu point Community → Learning units in the learners’ user interface. The preview image of the course community is the preview image of the course activation, and the name of the course activation is the name of the course community.

Course blog

You can enable a course blog or a personal learning journal for each course activation. A blog is always public, and a personal learning journal can contain private entries in addition to public blog posts. A course blog can support learning as a reflection tool or focus the personal learning process.

Shared files and Confidential files

To add a file repository to a course activation, you must first enable the Shared files option. You can specify whether participants are allowed to delete files and which groups of people are allowed to upload files (authors, team leaders or participants). Shared files can be viewed by everyone. In Preview mode of the course activation, you can build your own folder structure and store or retrieve files. Learners access the files via a tab in the course activation.

Confidential files can only be viewed by the respective participant, their team leaders and authors. All other participants do not have access to this area. Confidential files are also enabled in the course activation, and you can set whether participants can delete the files or not. When confidential files are enabled, a folder with their name is automatically created for each registered course participant. The learner accesses this folder via the Files tab in their course activation. As an Author, you can retrieve and provide files in Preview mode of the course activation.
