Flashcard files
Flashcard files in Avendoo are collections of multiple learning cards that are queried systematically and repeatedly. They serve to consolidate knowledge sustainably through regular repetition. A flashcard file is successfully completed as soon as all learning cards in the final compartment have been answered correctly.
Process
At the beginning, all learning cards are located in the first compartment of the flashcard file. The learner then goes through the flashcards in so-called learning rounds. In each round, the cards of a compartment are displayed one after another. For each card, the learner decides for themselves whether they knew the solution or not.
After completing a learning round, the learner receives brief feedback on their learning progress and starts the next learning round. Cards for which the solution was correctly remembered advance to the next compartment for further consolidation. Cards for which the solution has not yet been reliably mastered move back to the first compartment. In this way, learning increasingly focuses on content that still needs to be practiced, while reliably mastered content is queried less frequently.
A flashcard file is considered successfully completed as soon as all learning cards in the final compartment have been answered correctly. Only then will no further queries be performed – a sign that the content has been reliably internalized.
