Expire a Certificate that is no longer needed

Certificates for which user certifications exist cannot be deleted in Avendoo. This guide explains how to cleanly expire an existing certificate that is no longer to be used.

Go to Resources → Certificates and edit the desired certificate by clicking on the title.

Switch to the Parameters tab and make the following adjustments:

  • In the Active section, deactivate the slider to mark the certificate as inactive.
  • If you want to automatically mark the certificate as inactive on a specific date, set a date in the Expiration date of the certificate section.
  • In addition, set the Renew Certification Notification to the Do not display option. This means that a user will no longer see a notification in the frontend under Achievements that the certification should be renewed.

Save the changes.

You should also remove the inactive certificate from active course activations so that no further certifications are issued.
